SHARE A WORD

Assignment: Choose one of the new words from your PVL (Personal Vocabulary List) that you would like to share with your fellow classmates. Explain why you chose this word, and how it might be helpful to you or others in the future.  This word will be posted on the class blog.

DEAN
In my PVL, my favorite word is achievement.
We use this word in many ways, for example,” I hope
I will have a great achievement in future.” It is a noun.
The other form of this word is “achieve”.
To achieve is a verb.  For example: “He achieved success.”
I deem this is a writing word, it is often used in essay and is a professional word.
 PANDA

My word is “threat”’
“ There is a threat of rain.”(noun)
Another form:    threaten-(verb) . For example:
“ He threatened Tim not to play computer game and to finish his homework”.
This word is from  the newspaper.
I chose this word because this word is interesting and useful.
LULIU
I opt for the word: sophisticated.
I believe that this word is both interesting and instructive as we Chinese people always emphasize that experience is the most important thing in man's life. For example, we prefer a doctor with rich experience rather than a youthful one when we go to the hospital. And I think this word reflect our faith to the experienced appropriately.
This word is an adjective, and it means having or appealing to those having worldly knowledge and refinement and savoir-faire. And its verb form is sophisticate, it means make less nature or innocent.
I confronted with this word in the book <Cambridge IELTS 7> when I was preparing IELTS test last year. At that time I was eager to expand my vocabulary so I memorized this word quickly.
I think this word is useful when I want to describe a man with rich experience or good skill in some respects. For example, we say he is a sophisticated socialitewhen we want to praise a celebrity. Also we can describe a complex but aesthetic electronic tool as a sophisticated electronic tool.

JOAN
Interactive(Adjective)
Interactive advertisement is the new form in the Internet that uses the software of Flash and After Effect . When people see an advertisement  on line they can use the mouse by clicking on it and is interactive.

Interaction(Noun)
I first saw this word in my professor’s office and I have never heard of  this new art form. The word interactive is my major word. My major is Interactive Media Art. So when I saw it first time, I liked it a lot.  It is an interesting word, and we can learn a new modern art form from here. It  includes  art’s new images. In the future, I will work with interactive art, so it will be my good friend.
My new paper talks about the interactive art; where it will develop, how to develop it, and which form it will develop in the future. I like interactive art that it is  a multitudinous form to show art. In my new paper I propose a new direction about interactive art that can be useful in psychotherapy. This is a new direction in the interactive art history. I want to research it from the color feel, audition sense, vision sense and tactile sense. My professor encourages me to do it in the future. However, it is important to me, I believe I can give it new meaning.
